The Spirit of Intercession 01/24/2012
_I felt so significant today. I was filled with purpose, vision and passion as God laid His emotions for my nation on my heart. It felt really good. Like really, really good. Like, I could do this all day, good. It was God, giving me the Spirit of Intercession. Tuesday through Friday, we gather together in the prayer room from 1-3PM. It's time we've scheduled to seek God's heart and release His power through prayer. We start by remind ourselves about the characteristics of God through worship. He's powerful and not put off by our weakness. He moves when we pray and we remember that we can impact the world by asking Him to release His power. Now, how many of you are thinking you'd never make it two hours? Well, that's where music and the Spirit of Intercession comes in! If you don't have any idea how to combine music and intercession you'll have to go check out the IHOP webstream. Praise God we get to do intercession with music. I couldn't do it without it. However, the real game changer is when God releases His Spirit of Intercession. What that really means is God giving you the ability to pray with passion and fervor. Today, God put his desires and emotions about abortion in my heart. The weightiness of the situation began to boil up within me. My prayers gushed out as I released ideas that kept popping into my head. I was filled with gusto and purpose. It was awesome. It was a gift, something place on me for a time. I know it was because I felt it leave. After it did, prayer got a lot more difficult. But I know we accomplished something great. We acted as the most powerful government in the world. Last Thursday, we felt like we should pray for Myanmar. It seemed kind of random at the time however, the next day we heard that, "The government of Myanmar signed a cease-fire agreement on Thursday with ethnic Karen rebels, whose fight for greater autonomy is one of the largest of the brutal civil wars that has bedeviled the country since it gained independence from Britain more than six decades ago." (NY Times) How cool is that? We listened to God, prayed what was on His heart and impacted the fate of a nation. So yeah, I feel pretty good today. CommentsLeave a Reply | CategoriesAll |
